Howdy!

My name is Carla Furbeck and I am so excited to be serving as the President of Aggie Sisters in Healthcare for the 2023-2024 school year! I joined this amazing organization in the Fall of 2021, and I could not be more thankful for all of the opportunities ASH has provided me.

My hometown is Keller, Texas, and I am a proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2024 (A-WHOOP)! I am a Biomedical Science major pursuing a career in dentistry.

Since joining ASH two years ago, I have grown in a number of ways. Reflecting back on the lost sophomore who was unsure of where she was headed in life, I can confidently say that I have obtained so much experience and confidence from this organization. I have gained insight into my career goals and have been able to forge friendships with so many motivated young women, a few of whom will be my future bridesmaids one day. In my year as president, I want to promote the sense of sisterhood that I have always received and enable our members to feel more confident in their futures!

We all know about the late nights spent studying for organic chemistry or the hours spent preparing for labs. We know about the countless hours of volunteering and shadowing that we all strive to achieve in order to better prepare our applications for professional school. We know how difficult it can be to juggle all the responsibilities that come with being a future healthcare professional while still finding time to make college memories with your best friends. These common experiences are what bring the women of ASH together and what unites us all as sisters!

ASH is a unique organization on-campus because we are filled with members entering the healthcare field as physicians, veterinarians, dentists, nurses and so much more! We promote professionalism by hosting panel meetings and other application workshops on top of sisterhood. We also have mentorship programs and retreats, which serve to bring us all closer together in the hopes of motivating one another to persevere through the challenges of being an undergraduate and ultimately achieve our professional goals. This year, ASH will also continue to host a variety of service events and work closely with our philanthropy, REACH, in order to further serve our community. I am happy to announce that we will also be introducing executive committees to ASH this year! These committees will allow for further interaction between all members of ASH and enable general members to have more say in the events that are planned for our organization.

The 2023-2024 Officer Team is hard at work planning fun events for all of our members! Some of our favorites include retreats, barge, formal, and philanthropy events! These events allow us to grow closer as a sisterhood and unite members through our shared passion for healthcare.
